Seven injured as school picnic bus collides with truck along Srinagar-Jammu highway

Srinagar, June 30: Seven persons, including at least six students were injured after the picnic bus they were on board collided with a truck in Kadlabal area of Awantipora along the national highway in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday night, officials said.

The bus bearing registration number JK05-3783, boarded by students of Higher Secondary School Gadakhod Sumbal, on way back home from Pahalgam, collided with a truck, resulting into the injuries to seven travelers.

All seven students were removed to PHC Awantipora and later on referred to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment, where condition of all of them is stated to be stable.

The injured have been identified as Mohd Ramzan Khan, 40, son of Ab Aziz Khan

of Cheak Budgam, Mumtaz Hussain Bhat, 18, son of Gh Mohd Bhat of Najan Sumbal, Rayees Ah Hajam, 19, son of Gh Hassan

of Sumbal, Ruha Ullah Hussain Malla, 19,

son of Nazir Ahmad of Gaad Khud Sumbal, Sakavat Ali Dar, 17, son of Kav Hussain Dar of Gaad Khud Sumbal, driver Sahil Bashir Ganie, 20, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie of Harinaad Pattan and Syeed Ruhallah, 18, son of Syeed Mohammad Shah of Gaad Khud Sumbal.

The injured were removed to PHC Awantipora as per an official. He said the truck driver fled from the spot while a manhunt has been launched to trace him and a case registered into the accident.
