WhatsApp

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is a worldwide available freeware, cross-platform, centralized instant messaging, and voice-over-IP service owned by the American company Meta Platforms. It allows the users to send text and voice messages, make video and voice calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other content.

Whatsapp New Features 2023

WhatsApp, one of the Popular and most widely used messaging platforms, has several new features rolling out or under development with plans to launch in 2023. These are some features announced since the start of the new year. Instant-messaging service WhatsApp on 5 January announced a new feature that lets users connect via proxy servers so that they can stay online even if the internet is intercepted or disrupted by shutdowns. Following are the new features that are introduced this year.

Chat Transfers

WhatsApp is working on moving the chat history to a new device for a forthcoming update of the app. The feature will permit users to switch to a new Android device without needing to back up their chat history on Google Drive. The platform is also operating on transferring chats from Android to iOS.

Proxy Access

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp presents a new feature permitting users to access the service via a proxy server. This feature will permit users to connect to WhatsApp when access is blocked.

Kept Messages

A much-requested feature for WhatsApp is currently under outcome, bookmarking, and keeping messages. With the beginning of disappearing messages, the created kept message system will allow users to bookmark or preserve specific texts in groups where disappearing messages are activated.

Undo ‘Delete For Me’

This feature is currently rolling out. After giving users more time to delete content from chats, WhatsApp is now working on the ability to undo deleted content. However, this is currently confined to the ‘delete for me’ option in chats. This should help users who have accidentally deleted something from their chat windows. After deleting a message, image, or video, the “message deleted” notification will have an ‘undo’ button to invert the deletion.

Reporting status updates

After releasing a feature that makes viewing status updates right within the chat list possible, WhatsApp is working on another feature to help the moderation team keep the platform safe for all users: the ability to report a status update. This feature will allow users to report someone’s Status update without informing them. This is already available on other Meta-owned social media platforms, including Instagram. Once a user reports any Status update, it will be sent to WhatsApp for further action.

This feature allows users to hyperlink URLs in the caption in status updates, similar to ‘story’ on Instagram. This will allow viewers to access URLs by just clicking on the links.

Search For Older

Messages Using Date

WhatsApp currently allows users to search for any chat using a specific word or sentence. This is not the best way to search through a pile of texts where words are repeated throughout the conversations. The upcoming Search feature will make it easy to find messages if you remember the date. WhatsApp is testing this new option to allow users to enter the date and search for a specific message directly. The timeline for its release is 2023.

Avatars

Since the liftoff of Avatars on Facebook and Instagram, they have introduced Avatar on WhatsApp. According to wabetainfo, WhatsApp is designed to introduce avatars. Using them, you may use an avatar as a mask while creating the video call and as a sticker.

Companion Mode – multi-device sync

The WhatsApp Companion Mode will permit users to link a secondary mobile device to their current WhatsApp account, including tablets. Users can only merge their existing WhatsApp account to a desktop using Web WhatsApp.

The increased time limit for deleting sent messages

WhatsApp is planning to increase the time limit for deleting the sent messages. Nowadays, users can delete the sent messages within 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds.
